Agneta Marell is a Professor in Business Administration and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for External Relations and Innovation. The responsibilities of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor include managing the university’s innovation support system, to initiate and encourage the collaborative element of research and teaching, as well as being involved in many of the university’s external networks and boards. Agneta Marell was previously the Chief Executive Officer for Örnsköldsvik Municipality. Ms. Marell was employed as a Marketing Analyst at SCA Hygien Products in Gothenburg during 2007 and she was the Dean of Umeå School of Business from 2004 to 2007.
Alan Begg has been the Senior Vice President Group Technology Development and Quality of SKF AB since April 16, 2007 and serves as its Member of Group Management. Dr. Begg joined SKF from the Automotive Academy in Birmingham, UK, a groundbreaking government and industry skills partnership, where he served as Chief Executive Officer. He served as a Director of Group Technology of Morgan Crucible Company PLC since 2001. Dr. Begg has held senior technical positions in major multinational companies in the UK and USA. After spending much of his early career in BP, he has headed the technology functions in: T&N as Managing Director of the Group Technical Centre and Federal-Mogul as Vice President for Technology. Dr. Begg is a Fellow of the UK’s prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering. Prior to moving to Sweden he was also an Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham and a member of the UK Government’s Technology Strategy Board. He holds a Masters degree and PhD in Metallurgy from Cambridge University.
Ana Popescu is Intellectual Property Strategy Consultant at Think IP strategy since July 2010. She holds a keen interest in IP transitioning and prior to joining Think IP Strategy she spent half a year researching how intellectual property is treated in Private Equity and financial market transactions. The variety of projects to which she has been exposed to gives her the opportunity to adapt and respond to a large variety of situations. Ana has a business background in with experience in marketing and sales and is a graduate from the highly regarded Masters program in Intellectual Capital Management at Goteborg University.
Anders has more than 17 years of experience in developing, valuating, and monetizing patent assets to support different strategic needs in the corporate world. Anders is recognized as a global leader in helping patent owners maximize the value of their IP. As a market-maker, Anders is one of the pioneers to create an emerging market place for patent transactions in Europe. Prior to Zacco, Anders worked at Nokia for over 13 years and headed Nokia’s Patent Acquisition team. Anders works closely together with Zacco’s clients to leverage the value of their patents through a related range of services such as patent brokerage, patent acquisitions, patent licensing management, patent scouting, patent valuation, and patent portfolio management. Anders has an EMBA from Copenhagen Business School and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Lund Institute of Technology as well as being a qualified patent attorney.
Anders Ekblom is currently the Executive Vice President, Global Medicines Development, at AstraZeneca R&D, President for AstraZeneca AB and Director of the Board of Albireo Ltd. He is an Associate Professor of Physiology at the Karolinska Institute, a medical doctor board certified in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, and a doctor of dental surgery. He joined Astra in 1993 from the Karolinska Institute and Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm, where he was a senior lecturer and Director for the Perianesthetic Unit. His previous roles at AstraZeneca have included: Vice President of Strategy, Portfolio and Alliances; Head of Respiratory and Inflammation; Head of Pain Control and Global Clinical Development.
Anders Haugland is the CEO of Bergen Teknologioverføring AS (BTO) a technology commercialization company affiliated with the research institutions in Bergen, Norway. He is the Vice President Professional Development at ASTP and the Chairman of the Board in UniGeo and BergenBio AS and Texturgy. He is also a member of the board in Regionalt forskningsfond Vestlandet and Metas. Anders has a doctorate in applied refrigeration technology from the Norwegian Institute of Science and Technology (NTNU) and more than ten years of experience as researcher from NTNU and SINTEF. In the period from 2003 to 2006, he was also a research leader at different levels in SINTEF Energy Research.
Anders Sundelin is VP of Business Operations at CIP Professional Services, a research-based development and business consultancy company. He has consulted for multinational corporations, institutes, SMEs and universities, and is a frequent speaker and workshop facilitator in a number of executive educations and corporate training programs. Anders Sundelin is specialized in business model design, business modeling and valuation, and he is a member of Center for Intellectual Property’s research program on knowledge-based business.
Andreas Martsman is VP, Head of Business Development and Co-founder at Oxeon AB, a company that develops, produces and markets high performance carbon reinforcements. Oxeon came to life in 2003 and has been rated one of Sweden’s fastest growing companies with more than 30 employees and a turnover that exceeds 24.5 million SEK. The company has been in the limelight due to its development, innovation and commercial success. Prior to Oxeon, Andreas worked as a consultant at Cap Gemini and Ernst & Young. He holds a masters degree from Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship and has a background in Mechanical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology.
Andreas Norgren has worked as a Project Manager at Chalmers Industriteknik (CIT) since 2007 where he focuses on the development of innovation systems internationally, and with special emphasis on university R&D and innovation processes. He also supports companies and university researchers in technology commercialization processes, including verification, market studies, and IP strategies. Prior to this, he was a Sales Representative at Hewlett Packard from 2002-2007. Andreas holds a bachelors and masters degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Chalmers University of Technology.
Andrew Telles is both a senior consultant at CIP Professional Services AB and Project Leader for the KMP Project at University of Gothenburg where he is leading the development of the “Knowledge Management Platform” concept which uses Intellectual Asset Management to promote the strategic management and utilization of valuable knowledge assets in both public and private research settings. He is a frequent speaker at national and international seminars and conferences on issues of IP management, IP strategy and research collaborations. His previous experience is from Silicon Valley, California where he worked as business attorney representing emerging technology companies in the areas of corporate finance, securities and general corporate law with extensive experience in intellectual property and corporate transactions. Andrew received his Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law where he graduated magna cum laude and received his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University.
Professor Arnold Van Zyl is the Vice-Rector: Research of Stellenbosch University, South Africa, a Council Member of the Academy of Science of South Africa and a visiting professor at Tongji University in Shanghai, China. He holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
Bernard Munos is the founder and Chief Apostle of InnoThink Center for Research in Biomedical Innovation, a partnership dedicated to bringing evidence-based innovation models to the pharmaceutical industry and its stakeholders. Before that, he was Advisor in corporate strategy at Eli Lilly and Company where he focused on disruptive innovation and the radical redesign of the industry R&D model. His research, which has been published in Nature and Science, has helped stimulate a broad rethinking of the pharmaceutical business model. He received his MBA from Stanford University, and holds other graduate degrees in economics and animal science from the University of California at Davis, and the Institute National Agronomique in Paris, France.
Bertil Törsäter is since the formation of Region Västra Götaland in 1999, the Chief Executive for regional development. That includes business development, infrastructure of roads and railroads, public transportation, R&D, tourism promotion, strategic planning & international relations and EU matters. He is also a board member of ALMI Företagspartner Väst AB, Sahlgrenska Science Park AB and Innovatum AB.
Boo has a career in research and marketing within pharmaceutical industry and life science area, including clinical pharmacology and clinical research, project management, R&D Strategy and product launches, as well as building product life cycle management handling. After leaving AZ Boo has served as CEO of A+Science and CIP-PS and a few more start-ups. He has participated in several activities in the field of regenerative medicine involving, among many, being co- founder of Cellartis. Board director in two start-ups in the medical area, and a few more university related organizations. Boo’s role in education is as program director of GIBBS, one of the few action based entrepreneurship schools focused on biomedicine in the world.
Bowman Heiden is currently the Innovation Director for the Qatar Science & Technology Park, where he is responsible for driving innovation strategy and intellectual property policy. As deputy director of CIP, Bo currently manages the internationalization of the CIP platform and strategic industry relationships. He co-founded CIP Professional Service AB, the Intellectual Capital Management Master program (ICM) and Gothenburg International Bioscience Business School (GIBBS) master program. He is also the founder and developer of CIP FORUM, which has grown to be one of the most leading knowledge-based business events worldwide. Bo’s PhD work is in the field of innovation and Entrepreneurship with a focus on intellectual property valuation and finance in knowledge-based sectors. He holds a masters degree in Technology management and Economics from Chalmers University of technology.
Brian Elias is one of two Directors at LexisNexis responsible for Intellectual Property Product Management. He has worked in the online information industry for over 20 years and held various intellectual property related positions, including Director, IP Strategy and Development, for Matthew Bender, LexisNexis IP Online Content Product Manager and IP Product Analyst. Brian is a registered U.S. patent attorney, with a Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Miami University of Ohio. He is a member of the Colorado and Pennsylvania bars.
Bruce Berman heads Brody Berman Associates, Inc., where he provides business development and strategic communications for innovative businesses, especially those involving intellectual property assets, holders, investors and advisers. Mr Berman holds a Masters Degree in film scholarship from Columbia University, where he also completed course and comprehensive requirements for the Ph.D and taught for three years. His most recent of four books is From Asset to Profits – Competing for IP Value & Return, and his column, The Intangible Investor, has appeared in IAM since its inception. Prior to co-founding Brody Berman in 1988, Mr Berman served as Vice President of Financial & Investor Relations at Ruder Finn.
Carl Bennet is the main shareholder and chairman of the board of the listed companies Getinge and Elanders and the private industrial group Lifco. Mr Bennet is also chairman of the board of the University of Gothenburg and board member of Holmen (forest products group) and L E Lundbergföretagen (investment company).
Dr. Caroline Pamp is the Company Lawyer at Encubator AB, a company that provides an environment for actively managing its project and company portfolio with an objective to generate strong financial and societal returns. Previously, Dr. Pamp was the General Counsel at CIP Professional Services AB. She has extensive experience from practicing law in a technology-based startup context and is currently a board member of Insplorion, a nanotechnology start-up based in Gothenburg. Dr. Pamp holds a Phd in Intellectual Property Law an L.L.M and a BA in literature from Gothenburg University.
Charles Eldering is an entrepreneur, engineer, inventor, and patent professional who currently owns and operates Technology Patents & Licensing Inc., a company which specializes in the development of and management of patent portfolios. He is also the founder and president of Expanse Networks, which is currently performing research in the field of bioinformatics and healthcare data management. Charles was previously employed by General Instrument (now Motorola) and Alcatel. Dr. Eldering is a Registered US Patent Agent, has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Davis, an MS in Solid State Science from Syracuse University, and a BS in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University. Charles is also an Adjunct Fellow at the Progress & Freedom Foundation, where he is involved in telecommunications and patent reform issues.
Charlotta Dahlborg is a PhD candidate at Karolinska Institute working in the area of Innovation management and organization of inter-organizational arrangements in the Life science industry. She is also the owner of IBISCO, a consultancy firm that provides market research and analysis. Her previous positions include Assistant Course Coordinator at Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship and Research Assistant at Karolinska Institute. Charlotta has a master’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from Stockholm University and has a background in Chemical Engineering from the Royal institute of Technology, Stockholm.
Damon has a career spanning nearly twenty years in international intellectual capital management and commercialization and is a frequent lecturer at universities and professional organizations in the US, Asia and Europé. Before PARC, Damon served as president of Savanteque Intellectual Capital Management and was later brought in to direct intellectual property licensing for all of Hewlett-Packard. In addition to his professional experience, Damon has received numerous awards and will share his “tools of the trade” at this year’s CIP FORUM.
Dan McCurdy is CEO of Allied Security Trust and founder and Chairman of PatentFreedom, the world’s primary source of information on Non-Practicing Entities and their patent enforcement activities. At AST, he is responsible for management of the Trust with particular attention to patent acquisition and global expansion of the Trust’s membership. Prior to that, Mr. McCurdy was a founder and Chief Executive Officer of ThinkFire, which provides intellectual property advisory services to many of the world’s leading technology companies and private equity firms. He has also been president of Lucent Technologies’ Intellectual Property Business and held executive positions at IBM and Ciena Corporation. Mr. McCurdy received his B.A. summa cum laude in History and Political Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Daniel Papst is IP counsel and one of the managing directors and owners of Papst Licensing GmbH & Co KG. Papst Licensing, situated in Germany, monetizes on patent portfolios and currently hold over 100 patents and more than 150 worldwide licenses. Papst Licensing offer clients with limited resources expertise and access to the world licensing market. Mr Papst graduated from the University of Karlsruhe/Germany in electrical engineering and information technology in 2000, earning a Dipl-Ing, and has been a licensed German patent attorney since 2005.
Danielle Lewensohn is a PhD candidate at Karolinska Institutet with a research focus in intellectual property management in knowledge intensive entities. She regularly holds seminars and workshops on IP-related topics in the private and public sector. Today she runs an consultancy called DALEA where she supports start-ups and SMEs with conceptualization and implementation of patent strategies. Previous to this, Danielle has intellectual property management experience from the life science industry, academic technology transfer and management consulting. Danielle has a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Royal Institute of Technology.
Dr. Dariush Adli, Ph.D., Esq., is the founder and President of Adli Law Group P.C. His practice is primarily focused on Intellectual Property and business litigation. In addition, Dr. Adli’s practice includes patent portfolio counseling and negotiating contractual disputes and settlements. Prior to founding his own practice, Dr. Adli was the head of the patent practice at an IP boutique firm based in Los Angeles. Before that, he spent many years as Counsel at Hogan & Hartson LLP. He obtained his doctorate and master’s degrees in Physics and Electronics from the University of Michigan.
Duane is the Commercial Director of Science|Business. Previously he was head of corporate development for The Wall Street Journal, for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, where he developed a series of successful digital products. For 11 years, he was the Executive Director of the Minneapolis based not-for-profit ICE that combined ground-breaking technologies with music and performance. Duane was a fellowship student at the Royal Academy of Music in London, has a BA Magna Cum Laude from the University of the Pacific, and an MBA with Distinction from The Vlerick School of Management at KU Leuven where he has been a contributing member of the international steering committee.
Prof. Eugene Cloete is the Profesor and Dean of Science at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. He is also the Chairman of International Water Association(IWA) South African National committee and immediate past Vice-president of IWA International. In 2005 he was appointed as the Chairman of the IWA Strategic Council for a term of office for 3 years. He also held the position of Professor and Chair of the School of Biology at University of Pretoria or over 22 years. Prof Eugene Cloete holds a MSc degree in Microbiology from the University of the Free State and a DSc degree in Botany from the University of Pretoria (UP)
Fergal is the Director of IP Strategy at Rambus, one of the world’s premier technology licensing companies. Rambus has been a leader for more than fifteen years in the invention and design of high-performance semiconductor chip to chip interfaces and memory interfaces in particular. Fergal has been with Rambus since 2006 and previously worked with Applied Materials in IP business management and technology development. Fergal received his MBA from the Hass School of Business, UC Berkeley.
Florian Liegler is a Research Associate at the Institute of Technology Management, University of St.Gallen (ITEM-HSG) since February 2011. Prior to this he worked at Sal. Oppenheim as an Associate in Investment Banking – Mergers & Acquisitions. His prior work experience includes other investment banking firms such as Raiffeisen Investment AG and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Mr. Liegler holds a master’s degree in Economics from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and is currently enrolled in the University of St.Gallen’s PhD program in Business Innovation.
Fredrik Lindgren is the President and fm CEO of Karobio since 2010 and is
also a Board member in Biolin Scientific AB, Genovis AB, ProstaLund AB and
Connect Skåne. Previously he has held various positions in Active Biotech
AB, Meaning Green AB, MidelfartSonesson and Biolin Scientific AB. Most
notable previous positions includes deputy CEO at Active Biotech AB from
1995-1998 and CEO of Biolin Scientific AB from 2005-2010. He is a
Financial Analyst graduate from Stockholm School of Economics. He also studied Philosophy and Administration and has a law degree in
company and tax law from Lund University.
Gerard Pannekoek is the President and Chief Executive Officer of IPXI Holdings. He has over 25 years of diverse corporate experience with areas of responsibility that include management, finance, marketing, and operations. Mr. Pannekoek was the founder and Chief Operating Officer of the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) which became the world’s first market for reducing and trading greenhouse gas emissions. Prior to IPXI Holdings, he served as a Teaching Professor at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. Mr. Pannekoek has a Bachelors of Arts from the H.E.A.O. College in Zwolle and a MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business, Northwestern University.
Gert Vilhem Balling is the Special Advisor at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Danish Agency) and co-team leader in the commercialization of research at the Center for Strategic Research and Growth. Previously he was the Head of Secretariat of the National Network of Technology Transfer from 2005-2009. He was also appointed by DG Research under EU commission as an independent expert for “Knowledge Transfer Forum Expert Group” during 2008-2009 and “Knowledge Transfer Metrics Expert Group” during 2007-2008. Dr. Balling holds a PhD from the IT University of Copenhagen and was also a Visiting Fellow at UCLA, Los Angeles, California.
Gideon Kunda is an Associate Professor in the department of Labor Studies at Tel Aviv University. He received his Ph.D. in Management and Organization Studies from the Sloan School of Management at MIT in 1987 and he holds a BA in Economics and an MA in Psychology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has served as the director of the Institute for Social Research at Tel Aviv University (1992-1995), chair of the Department of Labor Studies (1995-1997, 2000-2002), and has been a visiting professor at Stanford University in California and Gothenburg University in Sweden. His book Engineering Culture: Control and Commitment in a High-Tech Corporation (2006) has been translated into Italian, Japanese and Hebrew and republished in India. His book (with Stephen Barley), Gurus, Hired Guns and Warm Bodies: Itinerant Experts in a Knowledge Economy examines the social organization of temporary work among engineers in Silicon Valley. Kunda is an internationally recognized expert in the area of organizational culture.
Göran Calås is Intellectual Property Office, Security and Defense Solutions at Saab AB – a business area providing security and training solutions to defense- and non-defense customers, belonging to the Saab Group. In 1990 he entered Ericsson as consultant within advanced software engineering and compiler design, in 1994 he started writing patent applications, in 1996 he was appointed product manager, and 1998 patent engineer and innovation lab manager within telecom super visioning systems. In 2001 he started at Saab as consultant. Since 2004 Calås, has lead engineering of laser based simulation system development at Saab Training Systems. In 2006 Calås published three research papers on innovation in a software engineering context, and a technology forecasting. He is a devoted TRIZ practitioner since 1998. In 2007 he became Intellectual Property Officer at Saab Training Systems in Husqvarna, where he also leads strategic innovation projects.
Gregory D. Graff is a professor in the department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at Colorado State University with interests in intellectual property and technology development policies in the life sciences. Prior to joining the faculty at Colorado State, Dr. Graff helped to found PIPRA (the Public Sector Intellectual Property Resource for Agriculture). Dr. Graff has been a lecturer at UC Berkeley and the UC Davis and has published widely, including articles in Science, Nature Biotechnology, the Review of Economics and Statistics, World Development, the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, and the California Management Review, and chapters in numerous books. He is currently collaborating with CIP on a forthcoming book on university IP management.
Gustav has worked at Ericsson for more than 20 years in positions ranging from research to product management. He joined the IPR group at Ericsson four years ago and has been active in building up a portfolio management function for patents.
Dr. Hans Persson is Senior Vice President, Technology & Innovation, at Volvo Technology – a global Research & Innovation Company with about 500 employees, belonging to the Volvo Group. Persson got his PhD in atomic physics in 1993 and became docent in physics in 1996. In 1997 he was employed by Competence Centre for Catalysis as responsible for simulations. From 2001 he was appointed at Ericsson as manager for the Data Fusion group and later general manager for the Surveillance System department. In 2004 he started at Volvo Technology as manager for the Transport Services group. In 2007 he became Innovation Director of Volvo Technology and 2010 SVP, Technology & Innovation. He is also coordinating Volvo Group Business Innovation. He has published about 50 scientific papers and has been the editor of two books. Moreover, he has recently been appointed as trustee for Institute for Management of Technology and Innovation (IMIT), is steering group member of Security Arena-Lindholmen Science Park and is board member of the DATACHASSI company.
Hans-Olov is currently chairman of Chalmers Tekniska Högskola, vice chairman of Volvo Car Corporation, Sr. Industrial Advisor to N M Rothschild and Board member of Elanders Int AB. Hans-Olov also sits on the board of H M King Carl Gustaf Värdebaserat Ledarskap and Anna Linds Minnesfond. Hans-Olov holds an Honorary Degree in Economics at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg.
Ms. Al-Ghanim works with the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (TIEP) at Qatar Science and Technology Park. Prior to this, she held the position of Technical Research Executive at QSTP and then the role of Manager of Entrepreneurship. Born and raised in Doha, Qatar, Ms. Al-Ghanim earned her BA in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology in the United States from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Upon graduation she returned to Qatar and was admitted into the Qatar Foundation’s two-year, graduate training, Qatar Science Leadership Program. Ms Al-Ghanim comes from a long-line of entrepreneurs and is active in the development of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Middle East.
Helen L Nilsson is Head of Research and Development in Västra Götaland regional secretariat, where she works with regional development issues in collaboration with universities, companies and social actors. The primary focus of VGR is on future issues of skills, innovation and research. Helena has a background in the field of international economic geography and has experience of working within institutions, public and private sectors. She is also involved as a policy expert on national and European R & D programs.
Chalmers Industrial Technologies (CIT) is Sweden´s oldest technology transfer organization and dates back to 1984. Henric is since eight years back in charge of the largest unit at CIT, 35 people out of a total of 75 people employed by CIT. The unit, Commercial R&D, provides expertise in all kinds of areas of technology including technology management and related services. In addition to this Henric is active in innovation system networks on the national as well as on the international level including Association of Science and Technology Transfer Professional (ASTP), HEP TTN a CERN centered network for technology transfer activities for high energy physics, and Swedish Network for Innovation and Tech Transfer Support (SNITTS).
Henrik Olsson is the Global Director Intellectual Property for the Volvo Group. His responsibilities include patents, design rights, and trademarks. He joined the Volvo Group in 2010. Before working for Volvo, he worked for SKF from 2004-2010. In SKF, he was a patent manager in combination with a group responsibility for Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) at SKF. He also has experience in working with several IP law firms. Henrik has a degree in engineering Physics and a Licentiate Degree in Innovation Management.
Henry is co-organizer of the Triple Helix9 International Conference (http://th9.triplehelixassociation.org)11-14 July at Stanford University on the theme “SIlicon Valley: Global Model or Unique Anomaly. He originated the entrepreneurial university and triple helix concepts. He is Visiting Professor at the University of Edinburgh Business School, University of London (Birkbeck) Department of Management and Department of Technology and Society, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Stony Brook University. Prior to Stanford, he was the Chair in Management of Innovation, Creativity and Enterprise at theNewcastle UniversityBusiness School. His books include MIT and the Rise of Entrepreneurial Science (Routledge), Public Venture Capital (Harcourt), Athena Unbound: The Advancement of Women in Science and Technology (Cambridge) and The Triple Helix: University-Industry-Government Innovation in Action (Routledge). Henry has a bachelor’s degree in History from University of Chicago and a PhD in Sociology from New School for Social Research.
Ilkka is the Head of the legal function of Nokia Corporation, specializing in Intellectual Property law. He is involved in the issues relating to IPR law and the IPR strategy of Nokia globally. Before joining Nokia he was a practising lawyer in Helsinki.
Jens Bördin is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of CIP Professional Services AB, a research-based development and business consultancy company. Apart from his management responsibility he is specialized in strategic planning for MNCs in regards to control and governance of key intellectual assets in sourcing, collaboration and exploitation, including e.g. IP strategy, open innovation and technology strategy. He is a member of Center for Intellectual Property’s research program on knowledge-based business. Jens Bördin has a Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from School of Intellectual Capital Management at Chalmers University of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg.
Jesper Vasell is the Managing Director at Innovation office West at Chalmers university of Technology. Prior to this, he was Senior Innovation Advisor at Innovationsbron AB, Commercialization Manager at the Swedish institute for Computer Science, CEO at CR&T Innovation, CEO at Carlstedt Research & Technology AB and System Architect at Carlstedt Elektronik. He has also held several board member positions in a variety of companies, primarily in the ICT sector. Jesper holds a PhD in Computer Engineering and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology.
Johan Carlsten is the Vice President of Chalmers University of Technology. Mr. Carlsten’s responsibilities are within the range of development of the innovation system, the continuing professional development of Chalmers as well as handling the external relations between Chalmers and Industry, competence centers and commissioned education. Before joining Chalmers in 2000, Mr. Carlsten was Prorector of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
Professor Johan Hattingh is the Head, Unit for Environmental Ethics at the Department of Philosophy, Stellenbosch University, South Africa where he has extensive experience in the teaching of Practical Logic and Critical Thinking Skills, Philosophy of Culture, Hermeneutics, Continental Philosophy, Aesthetics, and Poststructuralist Thought. Prof Hattingh is also an editor of the section on Environmental Ethics of the newly established Southern African Journal of Environmental Education, Ethics and Action. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics (since January 2007) based in The Netherlands. He is also a Member and Rapporteur of the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST) of UNESCO.
Jon Fjeld is the Professor of the Practice of Strategy and Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He is also co-founder of Ironwood Material Science, an early stage medical device company, and is currently advising a number of spin-out companies from Duke University and North Carolina State University. His primary research interests are entrepreneurship and innovation. Prior to this, he was the VP of Engineering at Align Technology, a supplier of orthodontic products from 2000-2004 and President and CEO of Geomagic Inc., a company applying unique mathematics to develop software for manufacturing applications from 1998-2000. Mr. Fjeld has a diverse educational background with a PhD and MA in Philosophy from University of Toronto, MS in Computer Science from University of North Carolina and an MBA from Duke University.
Jostein Dalland is the CEO of Inven2, a technology transfer and commercialization Company in Oslo, Norway formed from the merger of Birkeland Innovation and Medinnova. Jostein Dalland has more than 15 years executive experience from the high-tech industry including as CEO of a publicly listed biotech company and as Executive Vice President at the industry conglomerate Aker and Vice President at Orkla ASA. From this he has extensive experience working with Universities on sophisticated R&D programs and licensing IPR from technology transfer offices. In addition Dalland has founded and built several high-tech companies. He holds a Master of Technology Management and an MBA in market strategy and product development.
Karin Markides, professor of analytical chemistry, previously taught and conducted research at Stockholm University and Uppsala University. As part of her broad international experience, she held a guest professorship at Stanford University in the US. She tutored more than 30 PhD students and published more than 250 scientific articles. As of 1999 and 1992 respectively, she is a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. Between April 2004 and August 2006, Karin Markides held the position of deputy director general at Vinnova, a state agency that finances research and innovation for sustainable development. She also held memberships in the Government Research Advisory Committee and the Swedish Research Council Committee for Research Infrastructure as well as acted as a board member of the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.
Karl Palmås is a researcher in social entrepreneurship at MORE, Chalmers. He holds a M.Sc. from Chalmers and a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics & Political Science, and currently manages a three-year research project that explores how social entrepreneurs participate in the spread of organic farming in Sri Lanka.
Kasim Alfalahi has been vice president and Chief IP Officer at Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson since June 2005. Mr Alfalahi is responsible for Ericsson’s patent licensing and patent development worldwide. Mr Alfalahi joined Ericsson in 1995 as a product manager of IP rights, responsible for patenting in the area of mobile systems for North America. In 1999 he was appointed director of patent licensing – a business that he was instrumental in establishing within the Ericsson Group. In this role, he was a key contributor to the transformation of Ericsson’s patenting – taking it from being a net-payer to a net-receiver of royalty income, which is now contributing significantly to the bottom line. Mr Alfalahi received his MSc in engineering and management from Linköping Institute of Technology, Sweden in 1995.
Dr. Kazumasa is the Professor at the Faculty of Law and Graduate School of Law at Tokyo University, Japan specialized in Intellectual Property Law and Jurisprudence. His previous appointments included Professor at at the Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School of Natural Science, and the Head of International Department at Kumamoto University Innovative Collaboration Organisation (KICO) engaging in IP related projects. He holds a bachelor degree from Nagoya University in Japan, an LLM degree from Stockholm University and a PhD from University of London. He has several honors to his credit and has been actively publishing in the area of intellectual property.
Keith is the CEO of the Open Invention Network, based in Durham, NC, USA. The Open Invention Network is a company that was formed to promote Linux by using patents to create a collaborative environment. Prior to joining the Open Invention Network, Mr. Bergelt served as president and CEO of two hedge funds formed to enable IP rights as collateral in asset-based loans. In addition, Mr. Bergelt has held several senior and managerial positions within intellectual property, business development and technology investment.
Laurent Mieville is the Founder and the Head of the Technology Transfer Office at the University of Geneva. He is the immediate past President of the European Association of Science and Technology Transfer Professionals (ASTP) and co-founder of the Swiss Technology Transfer association (SWITT). He is also a board member of CLP Inc. a non for profit body that provides certification for licensed professionals. Additionally he worked at Stanford University as group leader and at a young Silicon Valley start-up company, Conductus. Laurent has a degree in Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and a PhD from University of Geneva. He recently took a year of absence from his work to co-write a book on technology transfer “From Science to Business” (www.fromsciencetobusiness.com ).
Lawrence is responsible for the operation of the Ventures and Intellectual Property (IP) Group within Coller Capital since 2007, with a focus on the technical due diligence of IP acquisitions. Lawrence was previously Vice President of European Partnerships at IPvalue (a US based IP license firm) and Head of Licensing at British Telecom (BT). Lawrence has a background in Research and Development and holds 5 patents and has published over 50 technical papers and has held visiting Professorships at Manchester Metropolitan University. He also sits on the industrial advisory board for Bangor University. He has a BSc from Bangor University and MSc from Essex University.
Liisa Ewart is the Senior Legal Counsel at Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. Prior to this, she worked as an Attorney at Law Liisa Ewart where she managed the firm for over 12 years. In her present position in Tekes she works with legal matters of public research funding and PPPs’. She is a legal NCP for EU FP7 and a Finnish delegate for Administrative and Finance Committee of ESA. Liisa has an IMBA degree from Instituto de Empresa and a Master of Law from Turun yliopisto.

Lucas has made his career within Procter and Gamble, previously working as head of finance for P&Gs CEEMEA supply chain organization, as well as being a part of the company’s Global Laundry and Cleaning Strategic Plannning group. His current position is based in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr Hulsmann is German, but has studied and worked in various European countries.
Luis Sanz is Director General of the International Association of Science Parks since 1996, and member of its Executive Board. A trained sociologist, he is an expert consultant and senior adviser to different Science Parks worldwide and chief co-ordinator of over 27 international conferences on Science and Technology Parks, regional development and innovation policies.
He is author of numerous papers, books, articles and presentations on this topic and has participated as invited speaker in over 90 international conferences and seminars all over the world. Formerly he was the co-director of Valencia Technology Park (Spain) which he founded in 1987 and as positions of trust he has been Vice-President of the Spanish Association of Science Parks and President of the European Division of the IASP.
Prof. Mumba comes from the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA), a technical body of the Africa Union based in South Africa. NPCA’s core mandate is to facilitate and coordinate the implementation of regional and continental priority programmes and projects. He holds two Portfolios: (1) Coordinator of the NEPAD Regional Centres and Initiatives, a consortium of five sub-regional biosciences centres distrusted throughout Africa. Two new Networks have been established to focus on Water Sciences in Southern Africa and West Africa. (2) He is also the founding Director for one of the five biosciences networks called the Southern Africa Network for Biosciences (SANBio) which has a Secretariat at the CSIR in Pretoria. Prof. Mumba holds a PhD in Plant Genetics from University of Cambridge; MSc in Molecular Genetics from University of Wales; and a BSc in Biology & Chemistry from Zambia. He still retains his Professorship of Genetics in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Zambia.
Magnus Lundin is the CEO and Managing Director at SiSP – Swedish incubators & Science Parks, the member organization for Sweden’s 70 incubators and science parks. He has an entrepreneurial background and have had various roles as a founder, seed investor, CEO of a venture capital funded university start up in medical nanotechnology, business consultant, incubator manager, has founded and chaired the board of a venture capital fund and comes most recently from a four year period as CEO and Managing Director for Västerås Science Park, one of Sweden’s larger innovation actors. Magnus holds a degree from Jönköping International Business School.
Since 2004, Margareta Wallin Peterson has served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Gothenburg with a special focus on external relations and innovation efforts. She is a member of the University’s Management Team and the Vice-Chancellor’s Management Council. Margareta is Professor of Zoophysiology and has served as Vice Head of Department at the Department of Zoology as well as Vice Dean and Associate Dean at the Faculty of Science, University of Gothenburg. She also has external assignments at Jönköping University, Aarhus University, Universeum AB and the Nordens Ark Foundation, to name a few. At the University of Gothenburg, she is the Chair of the Vice-Chancellor’s Committee on External Relations, of the University of Gothenburg’s holding company GU Holding, and of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She is also the chairman of Centre for Intellectual Property, CIP.
Professor Maria Anvret, FRCPath is Senior Advisor, Research and External Relations at University of Gothenburg. She obtained her PhD at the Karolinska Institute (KI) in 1978, did a postdoc at Yale University in USA, held a research position at the University of Gothenburg (1980-1985) and holds a professorship in neurogenetics from the Karolinska Institute. Dr Anvret has published over 200 scientific articles and has a broad experience in supervising PhD students. She was in charge of implementing molecular genetics into clinical practice and counselling. During her time at AstraZeneca (1997-2005) she was heavily involved in topics of strategic importance to management. During 2005-2007 Dr Anvret was a member of KI management and headed the Strategy Office at the Karolinska Institute, where she implemented outward and inward analyses into the decision making process. She was (2007-2010) the spokesman for science- and innovation politics within the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise. She serves at a number of boards, is member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and was member of The Swedish Governmental Research Committee.
Dr. Martin A. Bader is heading the Competence Centre Intellectual Property Management of the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland (ITEM-HSG). He is also Managing Partner of its of the innovation and intellectual property management advisory group BGW AG, St. Gallen, Switzerland and Vienna, Austria. Mr. Bader started his professional career at Siemens and then joined Infineon Technologies in Munich, Germany, as Vice President and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel. From 2002 to 2005 he followed the PhD program at the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen in Intellectual Property Management. Mr. Bader has a master’s degree in Electronics from ESIEE, Paris and in Electronics and Computer Science from University of Southampton, UK and University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
Maryann Feldman is the S.K. Heninger Distinguished Chair in Public Policy at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her research and teaching interests focus on the areas of innovation, the commercialization of academic research and the factors that promote technological change and economic growth. A large part of Dr. Feldman’s work concerns the geography of innovation – investigating the reasons why innovation clusters spatially and the mechanisms that support and sustain industrial clusters. Previously, Dr. Feldman held the Miller Distinguished Chair in Higher Education at the University of Georgia (2006-2008) and the Jeffery S. Skoll Chair in Technical Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Professor of Business Economics at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto (2002-2006). Dr. Feldman has served on the Advisory Panel for the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Program on Societal Dimensions of Engineering, Science and Technology. She holds a masters degree in Management and Policy Analysis and a PhD in Economics and Management from Carnegie Mellon University
Mats Bergh, President/CEO of Johanneberg Science Park, holds a M. Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. degree in Semiconductor Physics, both from Chalmers university of technology. Dr. Bergh has worked for Swedish Defence industry, including start- up of new subsidiaries, and has also a background from being a technical/management consultant thereby gaining experiences from other business areas such as automotive, engineering, telecommunications and energy. He has been Director at Chalmers university of technology with special focus on develop fundraising organization and activities. Dr. Bergh was prior to his current position Vice President of RISE Holding, an owner company of several research institutes and a part of the Swedish Ministry of Finance.
Mats Lundqvist is the current and long-standing director of Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship (CSE), as well as one of the co-founders of the school, back in 1997 and is also one of the Board of Directors at Encubator AB. Mats has a history of entrepreneurial activity on both the venture level and institutional level and sits on the boards of various companies, incubators, development organizations and programs. He holds a MSc and a PhD, both from Chalmers, and is heavily involved in building university-based innovation systems, both locally, regionally, and nationally.
Michael Lubitz is the Chairman/CEO of GTT Group, a global patent brokerage and patent transaction advisory firm. He also is responsible and chairs GTT Group’s valuation practice. Mr. Lubitz is the originator of the Patent Market Index or PMI, which is widely regarded as the benchmark economic index for patent transaction activity within the United States. Prior to starting what would become GTT Group in 1997, Mr. Lubitz was in-house counsel to Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation and then patent counsel to Shin-Etsu Handotai America. Mr. Lubitz has a Bachelor of Science in General Business with an emphasis in Japanese from Arizona State University. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego, School of Law. At the University of San Diego he received the American Jurisprudence Award for his work in Ethics and Secured Transactions and served as an Associate Editor of the Journal for Contemporary Legal Issues.
Olle Wästberg is a journalist, politician and diplomat who most recently served as the Director-General of the Swedish Institute and now is the governements co-ordinatior for the Raoul Wallenberg year 2012. From 1999 to 2004, Wästberg was Consul-General of Sweden in New York City. Prior to these appointments, he held the positions of Editor-in-Chief of Expressen, State Secretary at the Swedish Ministry of Finance and was a member of parliament. He has also held several Board appointments including Board member of Swedsih Broadcasting Corporation and the Sweden-America foundation. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science and economic history from Stockholm University in 1972 and began his doctoral studies in economic history.
Pam Fredman is the vice-chancellor of Gothenburg University since 2006. She currently also holds several executive positions – as a Chairman of the Association of Swedish Higher Education(SHU), Council member of European University Association( EUA), Member of the EUA Research Policy Working Group(RPWG) and Chair of the Nordic University Association(NUS). She is also a professor in Neurochemistry.
Paul DiGiammarino is the President of Article One Partners, a global research community that reduces patent dispute costs through increasing patent quality. Prior to Article One, he was Founder and CEO of Anaqua, an intellectual property management software vendor and the CEO of litigation support software vendor Steelpoint (now owned by Autonomy). Mr. DiGiammarino’s 25+ year career in the intellectual property, legal and financial service industries also include executive positions in two technology consulting companies as President of Sapient and Senior Vice President at American Management Systems (now owned by CGI). Mr. DiGiammarino holds a CPA and a dual degree in Accounting and Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Paul Van Dun is general manager of K.U.Leuven Research & Development and managing director of Gemma Frisius- Fonds K.U.Leuven NV, the university venture fund. He is also member of the board of directors of several spin-off companies and investment funds. In 1991 he joined KPMG, after which he took up a position with Investco/LPM, the private equity and venture unit of KBC Group, where he was active in portfolio management, legal issues and acquisitions. Paul has a law degree from K.U.Leuven, a degree in Tax Sciences (Brussels) and Business Administration (Leuven).
Professor Paula Kyrö has PhD degrees in both education and economics. She has worked as a professor in both fields in Finland and abroad. Before her academic career she has more than 15 years’ experience as an entrepreneur. She received an honorary award for meritorious consulting given by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the SME Foundation. She has more than 80 publications, experience in international projects and collaborations. She also has extensive experience in evaluation, editing and scientific board membership duties. She has been a member of the Adult Education Council Research workgroup for the preparation of the Ministry of Education Research Policy on Adult Education, a member of a teaching quality committee for applied science universities and a member of the Government’s entrepreneurship policy work group preparing a program for supporting women’s entrepreneurship.
Prof. Dr. Peter Heydebreck is founding partner and Managing Director of the inno group. Peter is dedicated to boost the return on private and public investments into innovation. He does so by e.g. serving as Managing Director of the seed capital company M.O.R.E. (Money out of Research Excellence) which primarily invests in spin offs from leading public research institutions. Furthermore, Peter mentors and advises national and regional governments as well as multi-national institutions (e.g. EU, OECD, UNIDO). Peter facilitates mutual learning processes (e.g. the flagship of the Lisbon Agenda: the EU Mutual Learning Platform) in the public sector (e.g. Universities) in private businesses and very much in interface systems (e.g. clusters). In addition to his business activities, Peter Heydebreck holds a professorship for innovation management and entrepreneurship at the Linköping Institute of Technology at Linköping University (Sweden) and a professorship for foresight and marketing at the University of Örebro (Sweden). He is a member of a number of Innovation Boards like e.g. the AER (Association of European Regions) jury which annually honours the most successful policy approach to innovation.
Peter directs TomTom’s IP strategy and transactions including litigation, licensing and IP and technology acquisitions. Previously, Peter was an Executive VP at ThinkFire where he directed European activities and advised clients on strategy, “freedom of action”, patent assertion defence and IP exploitation. Formerly, Peter directed worldwide patent and technology licensing operations for BT Group plc. Earlier, Peter managed business development for BT’s internet business and set up mobile ventures in Asia. He was a non-executive director of several mobile phone and internet companies.
Dr. Pinaki Ghosh is the Principal IP Officer at Infosys Technologies Ltd, one of India’s largest technology software development companies. Prior to his role at Infosys, he was a Head of IP department in GE Medical Systems India . He was also a Senior Researcher at GE with more than 26 patents and 20 papers to his credit. Dr Ghosh is a member of the CII National Committee on Technology and IPR and National Committee of Intellectual Property Owners. He attended more than 50 national and internation conferences related to IP and Innovatio as invited speaker and/or conference session chair. He is currently also pursuing his 2nd PhD in law and holds a masters degree in Mathematics from Indian Institute of Technology Karaghpur and a PhD in Image Processing from ISI Calcutta and Jadavpur University, Calcutta.
Raymond Hegarty joined Intellectual Ventures in March 2011 as vice president of global licensing for Intellectual Ventures in Europe, bringing with him an extensive background in intellectual property licensing coupled with a strong knowledge of technology. Mr. Hegarty is the former CEO of IP Foundation in Luxembourg, where he focused exclusively on global licensing of intellectual property. Before that, he served as managing director and CEO of Unilin Flooring Industries, the intellectual property subsidiary of Mohawk Industries. Prior to joining Unilin, he spent 15 years leading technology transfer programs, business development and operations for a number of companies, including Tattile International and LMI Technologies. Mr. Hegarty received his bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, his MBA and his postgraduate qualification in European law, all from the National University of Ireland.
Rob Willows is Vice President, Patent Offices and Government Accounts within The Intellectual Property Solutions Business of Thomson Reuters since 1999. Rob has been with Thomson Reuters for over 40 years, and during that time has held a number of Senior Management and Executive positions in Operations, Business Development and New Product Development. Rob’s current responsibilities include the management of all business relationships with Patent and Trademark Offices worldwide, with a special focus on delivering customized patent information solutions that enhance the processes of prior art search and examination within these offices. Rob has been responsible for successful in-house loads of Thomson Reuters IP data, including the World Patents Index database, at EPO, USPTO, JPO and the Chinese Patent Office.
Robin is the Director of Licensing, Office of Technology Transfer, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. As Director of Licensing, Robin Rasor oversees all functions of the licensing process at the University ranging from management and marketing of disclosures to developing and negotiating appropriate licensing terms for license agreements. She is also the current president of the Association of University Technology Managers, AUTM. Previously, Ms. Rasor was Director of Licensing at Ohio State University where her primary focus was on technologies arising from life sciences research from the Colleges of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy and Veterinary Sciences. Ms. Rasor holds a MS in Genetics from Ohio State University and a BS in Bacteriology and Zoology from Ohio Wesleyan University. Robin also recently earned the CLP (Certified Licensing Professional) Certification.
Rochelle Blaustein is the Senior Advisor for Technology Transfer at US Department of Energy. Before taking up this role in 2009, she was the Director of Technology Transfer and Development at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health from 2002 and a law practitioner in business and IP law from 1993 to 2002. During the early years of her legal practice, Rochelle also served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law at Franklin Pierce Law School where she focused primarily on intellectual property. She has a degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center and a bachelor degree in molecular biology from Yale University.
Ronald D. McNeil, Ph. D., became Dean of the College of Business and Management and Professor of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2002. Dr. McNeil has appeared nationally on “Market Place” on NPR and is engaged in globalization issues. He is the author or co-author of over 70 publications, journal articles, and presentations on entrepreneurship and small business management. Prior to entering academia, he was president of a mining company, senior consultant to Fortune 500 companies and a manager for a not-for-profit organization. Dr. McNeil received his Ph.D. and master’s degrees from the University of Memphis and completed his undergraduate degree in England.
Ruud Peters was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Philips Intellectual Property & Standards in 1999, in which position he is responsible for managing Philips’ worldwide IP portfolio creation and value extraction activities. He is also responsible for the technical and formal standardization activities in the fields of consumer lifestyle, healthcare, lighting and technology. He joined the Philips IP&S organization in 1977, where he became Director responsible for licensing in 1990. He participated in standards bodies, such as ISO and ETSI, where he was active in the formulation of IP policies. Currently, the Philips IP&S organization has about 450 people working in 16 countries around the world. Mr. Peters is also a Board Member of three technology/IP licensing/trading companies. He has a background in physics. Peters was inducted into the IP Hall of Fame in 2010.
Sari is an organisation & gestalt psychologist dedicated for over 25 years, to leading change programs based on action research & learning methods, emphasizing the humanistic & psychological aspects of innovation & organisation change-that lead to sustainable development-in Africa, Latin America & the BRIC countries. Sari designed & is leading ‘The Innovative University Program’ in Nicaragua, with 10 universities & the key stakeholders in the innovation system in Nicaragua (Sida). Sari is also teaching & working on 3 EU projects dedicated to evaluating and improving IP & innovation management: IP Unilink in the BRIC countries, PILA training program with 18 Latin American HEIs & the Uni4Inno project with 6 HEI in Ukraine. Sari has also been dedicated to creating, training and implementing special models and approaches for enhancing well-being, integration and employment for refugees and immigrants in Sweden (ESF).
Severin was an Intellectual Property partner in several European law firms from 1978. In 2007 he founded IPEG Consultancy B.V a group of 21 IP consultants providing IP management services, technical subject matter expertise life cycle management advice in Pharma, IP strategy advise and IP valuations. From 2008-2010 IPEG’s sister company OTB IP Management managed a portfolio of 2,000 consumer electronic patents for an investment company. In 2010 IPEG founded IPHire, Europe’s first temporary (interim) IP employment and IP executive search firm. IPEG’s other subsidiaries include IPTrust, a international trust company providing trust services for IP holding and Tax restructuring. The IPEG patent blog attracts 40,000 visitors a month.
Shubhashis Gangopadhyay is Managing Trustee and Research Director of India Development Foundation. In 2008, in the wake of the global financial crisis, he was appointed Advisor to the Finance Minister, Government of India. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in October 2006 where he is currently a Visiting Professor. He got his PhD in Economics from Cornell University, USA, in 1983. He joined the Indian Statistical Institute as a lecturer in 1983 and was promoted to full professor in 1991. He took over as founder-director of IDF, an independent research organization, in 2002. He is the Chief Editor of the Journal of Emerging Market Finance (Sage Publications). He has served as a member of the South Asia Chief Economist’s Advisory Council of the World Bank. Currently, he is an advisor to the Competition Commission of India and on the Board of the Centre for Analytical Finance, ISB. He is also the founder-President of the Society for the Promotion of Game Theory and its Applications. He has published widely in international journals, and has a number of books, in economics and finance.
Susanne Ås Sivborg is the Director General and President of the Swedish Patent and Registration Office. Her previous positions include Head of Group Intellectual Property at Electrolux Group and Vice President of Global Intellectual Property at AstraZeneca. In these positions she was responsible for the IP portfolios of the respective companies. Prior to this, she was an Examiner at the Swedish Patent and Registration Office and an Examiner at the EPO in Munich. Susanne has a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology and has passed the European Qualifying Examination.
Sverker Alänge has a PhD in industrial management and a M.Sc. in mechanical engineering. His research interest is in innovation and change processes in firms as well as in innovation systems, and in sustainable business development. He has extensive experience of working in Europe, Africa and Latin America on industry, university and innovation system development.
Søren E. Frandsen is Pro-Rector at Aarhus University. Before this appointment he was Research Director and Director General at Institute of Food and Resource Economics at Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University/University of Copenhagen. He has also been employed at the Secretariat of the Danish Economic Council and OECD. Parallel with the appointments Søren E. Frandsen has participated in a number of government committees as well as national and international working and policy advisory groups. Besides he has been a member of a number of boards of directors, editorial boards and employment committees. With an education as MSc in Economics his fields of interest include general management, research and change management and social sciences.
Terry Adams is the Assistant Vice President – Technology Intellectual Property at Nestle. Prior to entering the food production industry, Mr. Adams served as a Senior Research Manager at Kimberly-Clark, a leading global health and hygiene company. Prior to this he held the position as a Manager for International Technology Coordination at Dial Corporation as well as group leader at Procter & Gamble. Mr. Adams holds degrees from Howard University as well as Tennessee State University.
Tobias Thornblad is the CEO at Dermafol a Gothenburg based company that develops treatments for oral and skin diseases. He is also co-founder of Monocl, a Life Science Intelligence company guiding investors and business leaders to make informed investment decisions. Tobias has previously worked as consultant at CIP Professional Services AB and at the Center for Intellectual Property (CIP). Prior to his position at CIP Professional Services, he held an Intellectual Capital Management position at Dow AgroSciences, Indianapolis, USA. He has two master degrees in Intellectual Capital Management and Bioengineering, both from Swedish Chalmers University of Technology, in addition to a diploma in Biotechnology and Business from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.
Tomas Dannelind has held various positions in Licensing and Corporate IPR during his more than 18 years working for Ericsson. In his current position Mr. Dannelind is responsible for driving as well as managing new business opportunities within the technology licensing space. He is also managing Ericsson’s patent acquisition and patent divestment activities. In his previous positions within Ericsson Mr. Dannelind has been involved in/conducted/managed: Patent creation, patent licensing, litigation/settlements, M&A activities as well as Corporate Venturing within Ericsson Business Innovation. He is also a member of Licensing Executives Society (LES) Scandinavia and the Swedish Patent Engineering Society, SIPF. Mr. Dannelind has a master’s degree from The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm.
Dr. Udo Meyer is the Senior Vice President, Global Intellectual Property at BASF SE. He has been a Europen Patent Attorney since 1995 and German Patent Attorney since 2001. Dr. Meyer studied Chemistry in Bielefeld and is a Post Doctoral fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA.
Prof. Ulf Petrusson is the co-founder and director of the Center for Intellectual Property (CIP) at Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg, Professor of Law and head of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at University of Gothenburg, and co-founder of CIP Professional Services AB. In addition Ulf is the Director of the Intellectual Capital Management master program and supervises several PhD candidates. He also holds a number board positions related to both academic and private organizations. Prof. Petrusson holds a master’s degree and PhD in law from the University of Gothenburg.
Wolfram Ressel is the Vice Chancellor of University of Stuttgart since 2006. He is also an active member in various committees and organizations such as DHV – Chairmanship of the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers) and on the board of ASIIN – Accrediting Agency for the Study Courses of Engineering, Computer Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Previously, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering for the period 2000-2006. He has held the Chair for Road Design and Construction at the University of Stuttgart and is the Managing Director of the Institute for Roads and Transportation since 1998. Prof. Ressel completed his Civil Engineering studies in 1987 from Technical University of Munich and his doctorate in 1994 at the Chair in Transportation Operations and Road Facilities at the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich.
Prof. Zhong-Ming Wang is the Director of Center for Human Resources and Strategic Development and the Director of Global Entrepreneurship Research Center (GERC), Zhejiang University, China. He is also the director of the China-Sweden Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the GERC of Zhejiang University. He is professor of human resource management, organizational behavior and entrepreneurship at School of Management, Zhejiang University and a visiting professor at Gothenburg University. He received his degrees from University of Gothenburg, Sweden (1985) and Hangzhou University (1987) in industrial psychology, a joint program with University of Gothenburg. His research areas include global leadership competence, personal selection and assessment, strategic human resource management, organizational decision-making and IP entrepreneurship.
