About the 2011 theme

– The New Wealth of Nations

The ability to create, distribute and exploit knowledge is increasingly central to wealth creation. The role of knowledge as a key source of wealth at both an organizational and national level has brought with it new demands on the public sector in managing intangibles, on the private sector in balancing societal assumptions and renewing business models as well as on the government in designing an intellectual infrastructure that encourages access to knowledge. The accelerated acquisition of knowledge creates a need for nations to focus on making strategic choices, building dedicated policies and overlooking their institutions and capabilities to enable leverage of knowledge. CIP FORUM 2011 focuses on the New Wealth of Nations as a means to review and assess under which conditions a new infrastructure can emerge, and how this should be administered. Central to the discussion is the changing nature of innovation from an industrial to a knowledge-based process.

Through close interaction between international speakers, students, VIP guests and participants a unique atmosphere is created at CIP FORUM to facilitate interaction and discussion on how to handle the New Wealth of Nations. In the four specialization tracks of Constructing a Public/Private Innovation Infrastructure, Driving Business through Intellectual Property Management, Managing Complex Innovation-based Business and Entrepreneurship in a Global Knowledge Economy different perspectives on how to advance the understanding of how modern innovation processes are built upon the management of intellectual assets, property, and capital are discussed.
