Rapidly, technology and knowledge-based companies are becoming increasingly open in their approach towards technology sourcing, collaboration and exploitation. Companies are opening up to improve R&D performance and to create additional exploitation opportunities.

However, opening up, while ensuring appropriate governance over key intellectual assets, requires a balance between ownership interests and creative exchange. This implies a need for new organizational capabilities and structures, sophisticated IP and contract management, and new business tools.

The "Open Innovation Track" at CIP FORUM 2009 will gather the international corporate thought leaders in the field to discuss issues such as organizing and culture challenges, standards, patent pools, licensing, revenue sharing and open business models across industries for SMEs as well as multinational corporations.
